Tiki Taka or tiqui taca in Spanish; is a style of play in soccer distinguished by short passing and quick movement. The main objective is possession of the ball, which promotes aggressive offense and team defense. The system moves away from the traditional system of plays and focuses on zonal play.
The term Tiki Taka was originated from the late Spanish Boardcaster named, Andrés Montes. He first used the phase during his television commentary on LaSexta in 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Later on, the term became associated with Johan Cruyff during his tenure as a manager of FC Barcelona form 1988 to 1996. Now, the system is being play by the very best players like Lionel Messi, Neymar, Andrés Iniesta, and more.
